In celebration of the Library and Information Services (LIS) Month 2022 and National Book Week 2022, the Br. Fidelis Leddy Center for Learning Resources (CLR), in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission and Student Life (OVP-LMSL), invites you to join the Redesign a Book Cover Contest.
This contest is open to the Benildean Community (bonafide students and associates).
MECHANICS
1. Design an alternative book cover for a Filipiniana book, i.e., a book "... about the Philippines, Filipinos, or Philippine culture, produced in or outside the Philippines, by Filipinos or non-Filipinos, in any of the Philippine languages or dialects or in a foreign language” (Medina, 1972, p. 6)
1.A. Entry specifications
Any high resolution computer-generated graphics or digital artwork
Any high resolution scanned image of a 2D non-digital artwork
Aspect ratio should be 4:5; ideal image size is 1080px by 1350px; with minimum resolution of 300 DPI (for scanned images)
1.B. Entries should be submitted in high resolution JPEG or PNG file
1.C. Disqualified entries
2. Send your entry to clr@benilde.edu.ph, with the subject: My Redesigned Book Cover, on or before 18 November 2022, 12:00 nn. In the body, indicate the title and author of the book whose cover you redesigned and a brief explanation of your artwork and how it pertains to the book.
3. Follow us on Instagram (@BenildeCLR). All entries (artwork and accompanying description) will be uploaded on 18 November 2022, 8:00 pm.
4. All entries will be judged using the following criteria:
(a) overall design (effective use of design elements, i.e., colors, imagery, typography, space, etc.) (40%);
(b) creativity and originality (has a striking cover design, an imaginative concept and interpretation of the book; different to the current book cover design) (40%);
(c) audience impact - Instagram hearts (20%)
5. Invite your friends to ‘heart’ your entry. Online voting will start on 18 November 2022 and tallying of votes for audience impact ends at 5:00 pm of 23 November 2022.
6. Winners will be announced at the CLR Watch Party on 25 November 2022, 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
